The Cairnlea Residents Association (CRA) was started by a group of proactive residents who decided that some aspects of our suburb needed to be addressed.

As the years have passed and Cairnlea has developed into the thriving centre that it now is, residents and local groups have used the CRA as a communication link between themselves and VicUrban (developer of Cairnlea) or our local council (Brimbank City Council).
With the assistance of the CRA, residents have been able to push through many concerns that have affected our community, eg. Better maintenance and use allocation of our parks, reporting of problem areas like untidy building sites, litter in streets, “hoon” drivers, vandalism etc.

Volunteers play an important role in the success of the CRA. We need you for committees, and to take part in our monthly meetings. If you would like to volunteer for the CRA, feel free to provide your contact information at the Annual General Meeting, or please contact us.

As a resident of Cairnlea, you have the responsibility, and privilege, to vote for people from your community to serve on the Executive Committee. The Committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss community issues and to organise special events like the Easter Festival or the annual Summertime Festival – All residents of Cairnlea are welcome to attend.

The CRA has adopted the “Standard Constitution” for associations.

Annually, the Cairnlea Residents' Association (CRA) holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM). This affords you an opportunity to voice your concerns and opinions about bettering our community in a public forum. The Meeting will also give you the chance to run for an elected position on the CRA Executive. The Executive is elected every year at the AGM. Being on this committee is a great way to make some informed decisions about the neighbourhood you live in. We encourage you to attend the monthly and annual meetings, and to put your name on the nomination list.

The CRA believes that state and national party politics are best left out of local government, and we argue that ‘residents speaking only for residents’ – with no state or national political agenda or constraints – can achieve more for local benefit.

If you would like to volunteer, join the CRA, have a question about the CRA, would like to attend a meeting or voice a concern, please feel free to contact us.
